New Online Exhibition
Self Care - moving through the shadows towards the light.
For over a year I have been working on this new body of work. When I drew up these pieces as a conceptual exploration into self care, I decided these pieces would be made in the time it needed. No pressure with an upcoming solo exhibition, just time to work through the process. Being in a place where my time is not always mine, I have given into Motherhood and the demands it holds. Given into the new pace of working and the time it takes to do it all.
The studio has been a place to come back to myself. To heal and rise out of the darkness. Depths that have been transforming. Making, to process and work through life. Making, as a necessity to who I am, documenting and translating the motions we move through. Problem solving the experience, the chapters, the detours, the betrayals. Through it all we grow. Motherhood came late to me, shifting my path, my support and presence. It’s an all consuming process, to make another human through your body. Then watch it transform and grow, moment by moment, letting go of your most magical creation.
Making this first piece has been a slow process, one by one flameworking each part, designing and hand sewing the stainless mesh dress then wiring each drip on. It is slow but meditative at the same time. Drifting into the material, fluid and soothing. Working through the process and allowing the time it takes to heal and create.
All the pieces in this body of work took time. Made up of small multiples, made one by one on the torch. Individually sculpted in the heat, then assembled cold to create a greater whole.
I’ve decided to present this new work through my own online exhibition. No time fame, no rules. Just a place to share this work and the process it took.
Enjoy.

Because this online exhibition and has no rules, the final piece I am presenting is still in process. This piece is about the process of returning to self, stepping back and turning in towards your center, to the hearth that lies within. Creating a form the echos a cocoon or seed pod, a space that nurtures and heals, with sparkling light and glistening richness. A space to rest and feed your transformation. This process is slow and takes time to learn, as does this piece, meditatively making hundreds of beads, cleaning them and then sewing them into the form, slowly, hand stitching and mending the soul. I present this in process moment to pull you into the anticipation of what’s to come.
